John Hagenbeck was a German animal dealer and plantation owner who was the originator of the Dehiwala Zoo in Colombo. He was one of the earliest plantation owners to market his tea under his own brand name. Ludwig Berwald was a well known German illustrator who designed many posters and book covers.
