The Government Tourist Bureau of Ceylon held many poster competitions to choose the best designs that highlighted the many attractions of the island. C. K. L. Samarasinha who is considered the greatest poster designer of Ceylon, almost always won these awards. The Land of Song & Dance is quite possibly the best known Ceylon travel poster which won the Grand Prize in 1948.
