First built in 1858, the Ceylon Government Railway system enabled people to venture into the previously difficult to reach outposts in remote Ceylon. The extensive railway system enabled plantations to transport their goods to Colombo, the capitol and main port. This poster was done by David Paynter, one of Ceylon’s foremost artists.
