The Government Tourist Bureau of Ceylon held many poster competitions to choose the designs that best highlighted the many attractions of the island. See Ceylon, which depicts the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy was designed by one of Ceylon’s foremost watercolorists G. S. Fernando and won Third Prize in 1948.
